Solids, liquids, and gasses are the standard states of matter. But water, iron, and oxygen are the most common examples of the three states. And they are usually understood by the temperature they are found at. All matter theoretically has a freezing point and a boiling point. When matter gets cold enough, the molecules that make up that object solidify with less kinetic energy, and kinetic energy makes molecules more active and spread out with a higher temperature. Some objects (which are often a mixture of elemental bonds), have a really high boiling point, at which point they transform into a gas, which is still matter. Inversely, some chemicals have a very low freezing point, and turning to a solid requires frigid temperatures.
Plasma is a less-commonly known forth state of matter. In this state, molecules are unbonded, but still state together, like an orbit. Common examples of plasma is fire, but a fusion reaction is also an example of plasma. Because the substance is less predictable, plasma is not as safe as say a solid. But what while a plasma is a bit unstable, it is still somewhat predictable, with particles staying in an “orbit-like” fashion. This strange situation leads to magnetic forces being able to control plasma. Plasma is more “gaseous” then it is solid. But the different with plasma and gas is that it is visual to the human eye. Fire is often thought of as a chemical reaction of combining oxygen with fuel and usually heat.
While plasma is less-stable, it is more alarming to learn (or not be able to) what is happening at the sub-atomic level. Yet, science is still functionally predictable at more understandable levels, and it is easy to dismiss the science behind the deeper levels of reality. But if plasma is somewhat unstable while still under control, what is each and every molecule that makes up everything we see physically in our universe. Is it possible for molecules to potentially go haywire, and fall outside of understood physical laws? If science cannot explain the world that exists inside of every molecule of every object in our known universe, are we not living in a state of faith?
